Hardwood Stair Installation in {{area_name}}
Stairs are the first thing guests see and the hardest-working surface in any home. {{company_name}} designs and installs hardwood staircases in {{area_name}} that feel solid underfoot, match the rest of your flooring, and stand up to decades of daily traffic.
We handle everything in one trip: removing old carpet or treads, leveling the substructure, custom-milling nosings to match your hardwood, installing treads and risers, and finishing with a low-VOC sealer. You get one crew, one schedule, and one warranty.

Solid vs. engineered hardwood treads - which to pick
Solid oak, maple, and hickory treads are the gold standard for staircases. They sand and refinish multiple times, and a quality solid tread will easily outlive a 30-year mortgage.
Engineered treads are a smart pick when you're matching an existing engineered floor or working over a concrete slab. They're dimensionally stable, less prone to squeaks, and finish to look identical to solid wood once installed.
- Red oak, white oak, maple, hickory, walnut - all in stock
- Custom stains color-matched to your floor (free sample boards)
- Open-end, boxed, curved, and winding staircases
- Matching nosings milled in-house when manufacturers don't carry one

Learn moreWhat the installation process looks like
Day one is demo and prep. We remove existing carpet, treads, or tile, vacuum out the staircase, and shim any loose stringers so the new staircase doesn't squeak. On day two we install treads, risers, and nosings using construction adhesive and finish nails - no visible fasteners. Day three is finishing: stain (if requested), three coats of polyurethane, and a final detail pass.

Pairing your stairs with the rest of your floor
Most homeowners want the staircase to read as a continuation of the main floor, not a separate project. We work from the same stain batch as your hardwood flooring or hardwood refinishing job, and use the same finish sheen so the stairs blend in instead of standing out. If you'd like a deliberate contrast - dark treads with painted white risers, for example - we'll mock that up on a sample board before we order materials.

Hardwood stair pricing in {{area_name}}
Most homes have 13-16 stairs. Pricing below is per stair, materials and labor included. Every quote is fixed - no surprise add-ons.
| Option | Typical price | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Red oak treads + risers, clear finish | $165 - $215 per stair | Most popular option |
| White oak or maple treads, stained | $195 - $260 per stair | Color-matched to your floor |
| Engineered hardwood treads | $175 - $235 per stair | Best over concrete slabs |
| Walnut or hickory treads | $230 - $310 per stair | Premium wood species |
Final price depends on stair count, stringer condition, stain choice, and whether risers are wrapped or painted. We'll quote the full job after a free in-home measure.
Hardwood Stairs - frequently asked questions
Yes. We remove the carpet, padding, staples, and tack strip, then inspect the underlying treads. If the existing treads are solid, we can install on top. If they're particleboard or damaged, we replace them with new treads as part of the job.
A standard 14-stair installation takes 2 to 3 days end to end - demo on day one, install on day two, and finishing on day three. You can use the stairs the following morning, with full cure in about 7 days.
That's the goal on most jobs. We bring stain samples to your home, brush them onto a piece of the same wood species, and let you pick before we order. You see the actual color on the actual wood, not a brochure swatch.
No more than any other hard surface. We finish stairs with a matte or satin polyurethane that has a low-slip rating. If you have pets or small children, we can add discreet anti-slip strips under the nosing.
